What condition do your items need to be in?

A provisional offer is not final acceptance. We check that the barcode identifies the physical item and that it is complete, usable and in the condition expected for its category.

Keep the quote provisional in mind.

Items are inspected after they arrive, or as part of a qualifying local charity-shop collection. Rejected items are not paid. Eligible rejected items can be requested back under the return terms, with any return postage disclosed before you proceed.

Three checks before you send

Match the barcode

The ISBN, UPC or EAN should identify the exact physical item and edition you are sending.

Keep it complete

Include the cover, case, artwork, discs, manuals and essential parts supplied with that edition.

Look for damage

Items should be readable or playable, with no severe water, mould, smoke, cracking or structural damage.

What to check by category

Books

  • ISBN barcode matches the book and edition.
  • All pages are present and readable.
  • Cover is present; light signs of use are different from severe damage.
  • No heavy mould, water damage, smoke damage or strong odour.

CDs, DVDs & Blu-rays

  • Barcode matches the title and release.
  • Disc is original, complete and playable.
  • Original case, artwork and included inserts are present where required.
  • No cracks, warping or deep scratches that prevent playback.

Video & board games

  • Barcode matches the game and edition.
  • Video games include the original case and a playable disc or cartridge.
  • Board games include the original box and essential boards, cards, pieces and instructions.
  • Contents are complete and usable, without significant damage.
